The greatest lesson for me through reading The Great Gatsby is to follow your dreams to the farthest extent, no matter what the cost is or how others will react to your decisions.

"The truth was that Jay Gatsby of West Egg, Long Island, sprang from his Platonic conception of himself" (Fitzgerald 98). I believe that in life each person is given the chance to be whomsoever fits them best. He/she can change so that he is as happy with himself as he can be.

"It was one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life" (Fitzgerald 48). I think that it is each persons duty to be kind and to treat others greatly.
